Make a clear Mental Picture

Your mental picture is somewhat like the  television picture that you watch everyday.

This reminds me of growing up in the 1970's.Growing up in the 1970's left many lasting memories.

Every kid I knew wore 'bell bottom pants and butterfly color shirts'...

...we all played outside until the street lamp came on (that was the signal to get in the house ),

...and every single one  of us had those TV's that snowed on the screen.

What a terrible picture

Those of you who didn't grow up in the 70's will never know the struggle to watch television.

There was always a set of pliers atop the set to turn the channel when the turning knobs broke off.

The pictures were so bad that we had to hit the TV to get it to play clearly.  I  lie to you not...

When the picture went sideways one of us had to stand behind the set and maneuver the antenna while the other person watched the screen to see when the picture began to clear. This was our remote control.

Once the picture was clear we would put aluminum foil ( yes, that same stuff that you wrap your sandwich in )

...on the antennas then slowly step away from the set.

The picture would often be so bad that it looked like it was snowing on the screen.

The screen would often loop vertically then stop between loops so that you would see the bottom half of the picture on the top of the screen and the top half of the picture on the bottom half of the screen..... then the whole picture would slant diagonally.

And on top of that the color was  faded.   It was not a good time to have a television.

New pictures

If the TV was kind enough to not have all these situations then  we felt pretty good about it.

We really believed that this was the best that television could get.

Now look at what we have today, megapixels, surround sound, 3D imaging, Virtual realty TV, and on and on.

The technology has improved and so has the television picture.

We can see the clear picture.

So, too, is your mind.

We give  vague or incomplete images to our minds yet we expect our minds to "fill in the gaps" of what we do not give it.

We expect our minds to 'know intuitively'  what we want when we don't know specifically what we want.

We expect our minds to do the thinking for us and to tell us where to go and what to do when our minds are waiting for us to give it the message of where to go and what to do.

Law # 7: Mental Picture

That mental picture that you are giving your mind is the same as that 1970's television set.  The mental picture that you should be having is the megapixel,  high definion, surround sound.

That's the picture that YOU and only YOU  can give yourself.

If you do not give your mind clear mental pictures then your mind will take what it thinks you are giving it and it will give that back to you... whether you want it or not.

Remember what I said before, you are ALWAYS CREATING whether you know that you are or not.

You cannot NOT create, it's impossible.

Mental picture, the wrap up...

We give  ________ or ______________ images to our minds yet we expect our minds to "fill in the gaps" of what we do not give it.

We expect our minds to ________________ what we want when we don't know specifically what we want.

We expect our minds to do ____________________ and to tell us where to go and what to do when our minds are waiting for us to give it the message of where to go and what to do.
